Dr. Hanley was the Lead Environmental Scientist and the Project Director of the United Nations ( UN ) Environmental Impact project related to the Marine & Coastal Ecology in Saudi Arabia , Iran , Kuwait & Jordan for Environmental Damage & Remediation arising from the Oil Spill in the 1990 - 1991 Gulf War .
Dr. Hanley's career in Environment & Safety started when he worked as Marine Biologist/Environmental Scientist for the local government of Darwin , Australia where he reviewed and commented on all Environmental Impact Assessment and Preliminary Environmental Reports as part of government review process. He also worked as an Environment Scientist for BCEOM French Consulting Group and was responsible for Environmental Impact Assessment and the development of Risk Assessment model for various rivers and fisheries in Australia.
During his long career life, Dr. Hanley became the Director & Chief Environmental Scientist of Hanley Caswell & Associates in Brisbane . He was also the Executive Environmental Scientist for Sinclair Knight Merz . Further, he was a freelance Environmental Specialist for various countries such as Australia , Germany , Switzerland and several countries in Asia .
Dr. Hanley has a PhD degree in Biological Science and Bachelors & Masters degrees in Environmental Science and Development & Economics . He is an active member of the Environment Institute of Australia (EIA) , Australian Water Association (AWA) and ex President and National Council Member of the Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA) . Dr. Hanley has over 100 research publications and technical reports and he delivers numerous public lectures on environmental subjects and issues .
