Workshop Description
The absence of good lifting practices contributes to a large percentage of m aterial handling accidents.   This progra m , through classroo m proble m s and practical sessions, will instruct attendees in deter m ining the correct size and type of lifting equip m ent required to safely perfor m lifting operations. Further, this workshop discusses various types of equip m ent (static & m obile) including: Wire Ropes, Slings, Hitches, Shackles, Hooks, Eye Bolts, Turnbuckles, Spreader Bea m s, Man-Baskets, Sheares, Blocks, Dru m s, Chains, Hoists, Jacks and Rollers.

Further, the workshop will train attendees on the use and inspection of Lifting Equip m ent, Hazards and Controls required for static and m obile lifting equip m ent, lifting procedures, colour coding and risk assess m ent.

The workshop includes conduction and presentation of a Lifting Study using WinRig Software, which is designed to give all wire rope, sling, and hardware data. This software also perfor m s calculations based upon various rigging configurations.

Workshop Objectives
To ensure all personnel involved in rigging and lifting operations have an understanding of the require m ents pertaining to rigging operations, the require m ents for pre-use inspection and discard criteria of lifting equip m ent, the safe working procedures for rigging and to ensure delegates can use lifting equip m ent safely and not exceed the load li m it i m posed on the m . Upon the successful co m pletion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

•  List and discuss the types of static and m obile lifting equip m ent and explain how and where they are used at site

•  List the Colour Codes used at the site and highlight the current colour in use

•  Discuss the reasons and advantages of using Colour Coding for lifting equip m ent

•  List and discuss the certification require m ent for static and m obile lifting equip m ent

•  Understand the Safety Require m ent of Lifting & Rigging

•  Understand the lifting and hand signs/signals and being able to co m m unicate the sa m e.

•  Inspect & verify the condition of the lifting gears i.e. Wires, Belts, Eye Bolts, Shackles etc.

•  Conduct and present Rigging study using (PC) software.

•  Conduct Risk Assess m ent as required.

This workshop is intended for Lifting Equip m ent Operators, Inspectors of Lifting Equip m ent, Rigging Personnel and Contractors, Maintenance and Project Managers, Plant Managers and Technicians and Maintenance Mechanical Engineers, Supervisors & Fore m en, Safety Progra m Managers and all personnel directly involved in lifting operations, m aintenance and/or construction related crane activities will find the workshop helpful and beneficial.

Workshop Certificate
PetroLab Engineering certificate will be issued to all attendees completing minimum of 75% of the total tuition hours of the workshop.

Workshop Fee
